cyn2My taste in books depends on my mood and what I feel like sinking my teeth into…

The majority of the books I read are from the Teen room. I enjoy teen fantasies like Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone series or the Bones of Faerie trilogy by Janni Lee Simner. For science fiction I recommend the Starbound Trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner or the Across the Universe trilogy by Beth Revis. I enjoy a twist on the retelling of classic fairy tales such as Stitching Snow by R.C. Lewis, Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge or Rook by Sharon Cameron. For hard hitting realistic fiction, I enjoyed We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, Burning Blue by Paul Griffin or anything by Laurie Halse Anderson.

I also enjoy nonfiction, from settings high in the mountains like Jon Krakauer’s Into Thin Air to the deep ocean in Ten Hours Until Dawn by Mike Tougias or Close to Shore by Mike Capuzzo. I have an interest in the history of plagues and diseases and enjoyed reading Spillover and Ebola by David Quammen and Demon in the Freezer by Richard Preston. I love books that address social issues and found So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson very timely. Being Mortal by Atul Gawande and Final Gifts by Maggie Callanan and Patricia Kelley have both given me insight I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
