Friends of the Topsham Public Library Meeting
Started in 1998, The Friends of the Topsham Public Library is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to supporting the Topsham Public Library. The Friends value the Topsham Public Library as a cultural, educational and recreational center and contribute time, effort, and resources to further develop the library’s potential as a dynamic force in our community. The Friends augment the library budget through fundraising to finance virtually all library programs and events. Annual membership, donations, and patronage of the annual book sale strengthens the Topsham Public Library and ensures the continued growth of Library services. All meetings are open to the public. New members are always welcome.

Mystery in the Library
The other night when many characters were out of their books, a crime was committed, right in our own library! As a result, his Majesty Henry VIII – that famous monarch from the English history books – has disappeared. Help us solve the mystery! In person registration is required so that you can choose your character. Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory. Space is limited. Food will be served. Registration opens on July 15th and closes on August 6th.Ages 10-16 only

Chewonki Presents: Owls of Maine
Beginning with slides and sounds, participants will learn the identifying characteristics and calls of each owl. Then, using talons, wings, and skulls, we explore the adaptations of these silent nocturnal hunters. This program ends with an intimate and detailed look at live owls, bringing these creatures of the night into the light! Recommended ages 6 and up, but open to anyone who can sit quietly through a 45 minute presentation. Limit first 100 people.

Family Movie: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter is a ten-year-old orphan who has been living under the stairs in the house of his cruel and abusive aunt and uncle. But on his eleventh birthday, Harry receives a letter informing him that he has been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he learns not only that his parents were wizards, but also that he is destined to become a powerful wizard himself. Along with his new friends Ron and Hermione, Harry hones his magical powers and uncovers the secret of the Sorcerer's stone, which leads him into a confrontation with the evil wizard who murdered his parents. Adventures of Writers on Writing (A-WOW)
Join Matt Cost (moderator) and a panel of writers including Kate Flora, BJ Magnani, Jule Selbo, and Joseph Souza as they discuss Adventures in the Writing Process with an emphasis on some of the more outlandish quirks and occurrences. Writing a novel starts with an idea, the inspiration that germinates and grows into a book. This is followed by research, writing, editing, marketing, and promoting. These Lit Legends will discuss their processes along the way to the birth of a book. The audience will be included in trying to determine which writer was involved in what unorthodox and ridiculous practice in their writing or interaction with the world in the creation of their book. Questions and interaction from the audience are strongly encouraged!
