    Teens Escape Room in the Library

    Become a code cracker, enigma breaker and cryptanalyst to solve escape room stations and solve mysteries by deciphering hidden messages in images, fake documents, invisible ink pages, and scrambled alphabets. Use special tools to unlock treasure boxes. Sign up to take part in Escape Room at TPL.

    Familly Movie Matinee: A Minecraft Movie

    Four misfits are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they embark on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve. Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative. Rated PG for violence/action, language, suggestive/rude humor and some scary images. Recommended ages 9 and up, but all are welcome. Bring pillows and blankets for extra coziness! Popcorn will be served.

    Movie: Jumanji (2017)

    Four teenagers in detention discover an old video console with a game they’ve never heard of. When they decide to play, they are immediately sucked into the jungle world of Jumanji in the bodies of their avatars. They’ll have to complete the adventure of their lives filled with fun, thrills and danger or be stuck in the game forever! Rated PG-13 for adventure action, suggestive content and some language. Recommended ages 11 and up, but all are welcome. Bring pillows and blankets for extra coziness! Popcorn will be served.

    Storyteller Catharine Cary

    AIR CAKE and other summery occupations is nine frolicky stories about three intrepid children on the summer beaches of Southwest France, on the other side of the Atlantic from fabulous Maine. AIR CAKE and other summery occupations is a live performance set to improvised music and can be between 30 to 60 minutes long.  AIR CAKE is geared to all ages, but particularly adapted to children ages 7 to 12.

    Magician Peter Boie

    Peter first became fascinated with magic at the age of eleven when he stumbled across a magic book at the Topsham library. He performed his first professional show at the age of 16 and has never looked back. Peter tours theaters, colleges, corporate events and schools across the country, has been featured on the hit tv show Penn & Teller Fool Us and is a best-selling magic inventor. Peter’s show is about two things—astonishing magic and having a good time—and he doesn't skimp on either.  Combining original mind-blowing magic and a heavy dose of humor is his secret to success and has made him one of the top booked acts around the country. Designed for ages 4 to 104! Limit first 100 people.

    Join Read ME featured author Jennifer Lunden for an online talk about her book "American Breakdown: Our Ailing Nation, My Body's Revolt, and the Nineteenth-Century Woman Who Brought Me Back To Life" Lunden will read passages from her book, reflect on her writing, and answer questions from participating libraries and readers across the state.     Movie: Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

    When ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, his son Tim embarks on a journey to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu, a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to work together, as Tim is the only human who can talk with Pikachu, they join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe. Rated PG for action/peril, some rude and suggestive humor, and thematic elements. Recommended ages 8 and up, but all are welcome!  Bring pillows and blankets for extra coziness—popcorn will be served!

    Level Up Retro Movie Night: TBA

    Join us for our second movie in the summer series of retro video game themed movies. We'll be showing Wargames (1983). High school student David Lightman (Matthew Broderick) unwittingly hacks into a military supercomputer while searching for new video games. After starting a game of Global Thermonuclear War, Lightman leads the supercomputer to activate the nation's nuclear arsenal in response to his simulated threat, the Soviet Union. Once the clueless hacker comes to his senses, Lightman, with help from his girlfriend (Ally Sheedy), must find a way to alert the authorities to stop the onset of World War III. Rated PG.
