    Tess Hartford Artist Reception

    Ms. Hartford will give  an Artist Talk  at 1:15 p.m. This collection of drawings and paintings represent a body of ongoing visual expressions in watercolors, pastels and colored pencil. It will be on display until August 2. Light refreshments will be served.

    Read to a Dog for Kids

    Want to practice your reading skills with a GREAT listener? Want some (optional) doggy snuggles? Come read to Chai (a miniature toy poodle)! If there are a lot of friends reading, we will have 15-minute turns. Designed for ages 3 and up.

    Monday Matinee: Bluey

    The slice-of-life adventures of an Australian Blue Heeler Cattle Dog puppy as she has fun with her family and friends in everyday situations. Running Time: about 35 minutes (episodes are 7 minutes long). Recommended ages 4 and up, but all are welcome! Bring pillows and blankets for extra coziness!

    Family Movie: The Lego Movie

    An ordinary LEGO construction worker, thought to be the prophesied as "special", is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the LEGO universe into eternal stasis. Running Time: 1 hour, 40 minutes. Rated PG for mild action and rude humor. Recommended ages 6 and up, but all are welcome! Bring pillows and blankets for extra coziness! Popcorn will be served.

    Chewonki Presents: Scales & Tails

    Many people conjure up images of slimy skin and bloodthirsty monsters when they hear the word “reptile.” This hands-on program works to dispel some of those fears by allowing students to examine snakeskins, turtle shells, skeletons, and other unique reptilian artifacts. Recommended ages 6 and up, but open to anyone who can sit quietly through a 45-minute presentation.

    Friends of the Topsham Public Library Meeting

    Started in 1998, The Friends of the Topsham Public Library is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to supporting the Topsham Public Library. The Friends value the Topsham Public Library as a cultural, educational and recreational center and contribute time, effort, and resources to further develop the library’s potential as a dynamic force in our community. The Friends augment the library budget through fundraising to finance virtually all library programs and events. Annual membership, donations, and patronage of the annual book sale strengthens the Topsham Public Library and ensures the continued growth of Library services. All meetings are open to the public. New members are always welcome.

    Mystery in the Library

    The other night when many characters were out of their books, a crime was committed, right in our own library! As a result, his Majesty Henry VIII – that famous monarch from the English history books – has disappeared.  Help us solve the mystery! In person registration is required so that you can choose your character. Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory. Space is limited. Food will be served. Registration opens on July 15th and closes on August 6th.Ages 10-16 only

    Chewonki Presents: Owls of Maine

    Beginning with slides and sounds, participants will learn the identifying characteristics and calls of each owl.  Then, using talons, wings, and skulls, we explore the adaptations of these silent nocturnal hunters. This program ends with an intimate and detailed look at live owls, bringing these creatures of the night into the light! Recommended ages 6 and up, but open to anyone who can sit quietly through a 45 minute presentation. Limit first 100 people.
