How it works
Five skills taught as one method. Most language apps teach one thing at a time: a vocabulary drill, then a grammar rule, then a listening exercise, each in its own box. You can be good at all of them separately and still freeze when someone actually speaks to you.
Mango’s Intuitive Language Construction™ is the opposite arrangement. Every lesson works all of them at once, in a real conversation, because that is how they are used. You hear a phrase, you understand why it is built that way, you say it back, and the culture behind it explains why anyone would say it at all.
It is the difference between knowing about a language and being able to hold a conversation in it.
The goal is being understood rather than being perfect. In an independent 2019 study, 95 adults who began as novice Spanish learners needed 15 hours of study on average to cover the requirements of a first college semester. For just 10 minutes per day, you can begin or improve your language skills.
Mango is available as an app on your mobile device or via the web. We recommend that you create an account using your library card number and email which will make it easier to track your progress. The mobile version also offers linked family accounts and the ability to auto-play the next lesson, making Mango perfect to share with a family member or friends and easier to learn while commuting or doing chores.
